First Aid Course Research

After having our model faint on the previous photoshoot, I began to look into first aid courses, the costings and also what is involved within the course and how this could benefit my position as an MUA. Below are some shots of courses I have considered.

The St.Johns Ambulance course lasts for 2 hours and looks at the content of chest pains, severe bleeding, treatment of an unconscious casualty, resuscitation and how to communicate and look after the casualty. I have chosen initially to look at adult first aid course, and will look to progress into child first aid if and when appropriate. The course costs £25 and takes place towards southampton at Millbrook. I have also looked at more advanced courses from St.Johns Ambulance with the content featured in the image below;

This course is 6 hours in duration and costs £50, but is a lot more detailed into the kinds of scenarios that could happen within any makeup set. When working in larger workplaces the companies may often have first aiders already trained and designated within the workplace, however as stated when working freelance I feel having the knowledge to deal with scenarios such as fainting would benefit myself and make me an employable knowledgable person!
