Panel Interview Preparation

In preparation to my interview, I began to outline the job title I was applying for. As I am confident in my wig making abilities and wanting to progress and take this further after graduation I had identified that research for wig making positions was something I would need to undertake. (See wig making job post).

I also identified that researching the panel interviewing me would be useful in knowing what they are currently working on and specialising in, as well as presenting any questions to them if time or opportunity permitted (i.e the 'feature film TBA on Andrews page?).

I wanted to begin the presentation by showing my showreel to the panel so they could get an all rounded overall view of my portfolio and recent work. However I did not want to waste valuable time in showing my recent projects and skills, therefore after careful consideration placed the showreel last, so it would stay within the panels memory and end on a high.

I will begin the presentation by introducing myself with my branding/logo on the screen. Then I will  discuss the jobs I was pitching for and why i would be appropriate for it.

I then plan to proceed this by discussing my previous project in level 5 and how I had created my first two wigs, before discussing the issues with photography etc but why this project is positive to compare to my recent SP unit, in which I collaborated with a photographer to improve on outcomes beneficial to my own portfolio.

I then have decided to discuss each wig and how it was made and photographed in context, whilst having the final images of each wig on the screen. It will be important to discuss my narrative and why the styles and designs
were appropriate and why it was important to create the wigs and frames in a specific way to enhance my skill base and knowledge.

Once this is completed I plan to continue onto my website where I will discuss the layout of this, as well as showing my CV and showreel which are both accessible on the page. I do not plan to focus on the website for a long amount of time as I feel this is a tool that the panel could go back to and view later, where as the presentation and review of my skills is something that I needed to focus on and present in a professional yet informative manner.
